Top Coatings Companies

The Coatings World (CW) published recently a ranking of top paint and coatings companies based on their revenue in 2017 (and 2017 to 2018) fiscal year. The CW claims that the rankings are based on annual sales in U.S. dollars. For companies based outside the U.S., sales are translated into U.S. dollars using exchange rates from the company’s fiscal closing date. For privately held companies who choose not to disclose sales figures, the CW staff interviews different industry sources coupled with our own research to come up with an accurate estimate of annual sales. They profiled 78 companies in this report. All have sales of $100 million or more annually. Six companies have been removed from the list this year; Dunn Edwards, Helios and Valspar due to acquisitions; Boero (less than $100 in revenue) and Mido and Pachin (due to the devaluation of Egypt’s currency). This year they have enlisted two new companies to the list: both from Germany; Adler-Werk Lackfabrik and Frei Lacke.

The main objective to publish this report of listing is to provide our readers a bird’s eye view of the industry’s most influential players. We hope you will come away with a clearer insight into the future of this truly global and always evolving industry.
